Case History #130

Project: Private Residence, Little Britton, ON

Date: Summer 2011

Problem:

The owner of this neglected deck was tired. Tired of the amount of time and effort needed to maintain his deck and tired of looking at its less-than-attractive appearance.

What this resident really wanted was an area of dry storage underneath his deck. The pressure-treated wood deck never could provide that, so with its aged appearance an the daunting task of sanding and staining AGAIN, the homeowner decided it was time to do something about it.

Duradek Solution:

The professional Duradek installer identified that the original deck surface did not have (nor had it previously required) the proper slope for a membrane waterproofing system.

Since Duradek professionals always believe in doing it right the first time, the deck was lowered for proper slope before laying a layered plywood surface and finishing with Duradek Ultra Chip
taupe vinyl. Finally, the homeowner has the additional dry outdoor storage that he wanted.

Job Notes:
This deck area that was so unpleasant to look at before is transformed into a quality outdoor living space where the owner can actually relax instead of thinking of all the work that needs to be done!

Case History #129

Project:
Residential Condominium Renovations
Salt Lake City, UT

Date:
Fall 2011

Problem:
The owners of a beautiful brick heritage building in a distinguished neighborhood were converting the large structure into condominiums. With a desire to best compliment the original building, the addition of residential decks was a challenge. Aside from the initial construction of the decks, the desire to use tile as a surface posed challenges of its own as the harsh Utah climate and temperature variations can wreak havoc on outdoor tile decks.

Duradek Solution:
The builder responsible for this project had heard of Tiledek and the superior results reported as a waterproofing underlayment for outdoor tiles. Not only does Tiledek provide reliable waterproofing while meeting the building code requirements for a roofing membrane, but its design is made specifically for adhering outdoor tiles and it enables the entire system to withstand the effects of extreme temperature variations and greatly reduce the chances of cracked or lifted tiles.

Job Notes:
With professional installation and the product's tested durability, the Duradek Ultra Tiledek membrane will remain waterproof for many, many years. Even if there is surface damage to a tile, the waterproofing underneath is still intact. No need to worry about leaks!
