Case History #132

Project: Private Residence - Uxbridge, ON

Date:  April 2012

Problem:
This split level deck provided a great outdoor perimeter on the second floor of the home, but its plank surface did not protect the patio area below. When the deck started to show signs of age beyond the need for re-sanding, and the structural integrity was questioned, the owner agreed it was time to rebuild.

Time to refresh this well used deck

He didn't want to duplicate the same maintenance heavy deck that required so many hours of annual labor to maintain, and he really wanted a dry ground level patio in addition to his second story deck.

The new construction being built to code with adequate slope for drainage

Duradek Solution:

The original design of the deck was rebuilt, but this time the surface was prepared with plywood and waterproofed with Duradek Ultra Taupe Chip vinyl.

The vinyl was applied with the care and precision expected of authorized Duradek installers and the attention to detail included routering a recessed channel in the plywood where the vinyl seams met, allowing for a virtually invisible seam. this roofing grade waterproofing membrane on the upper deck now provides reliable protection for a completely dry lower-level patio below.

A beautiful new deck above and now a dry patio below too!

Job Notes:
The detailing in wrapping the stair steps with Duradek vinyl is a brilliant and beautiful method of providing a durable and long lasting stairway. With Duradek's slip resistant finish, accessing the back yard is safe for both man and man's best friend!

Case History #131

Project: Private Residence - Kaysville, UT

Date: March 2012

Problem:

This residence in Kaysville had the advantage of a decent sized yard, but no deck to enjoy their outdoor space - just a lonely slab of concrete outside of their back door.

The owners wanted to install a deck above for additional outdoor living space while still making use of the slab below. They also wanted to have added dry storage below the deck that didn't take up much of their leisure space.

Duradek Solution:

Planned and built with the advantages of Duradek in mind, the deck was erected with the proper slope for water drainage before laying the vinyl.

The deck exit of a small switch-back stairway to the yard below serves a second valuable purpose as well. Underneath the landing of the stairway is an enclosed storage area giving the homeowners an additional 100 sq. ft. of DRY storage space....securely waterproofed on the stair landing above with Duradek Ultra Marble Mocha membrane.
